MILLION MOMS MARCH
Washington DC, May
9th 2015
A Mother’s Day
Wish: Stop Killing Our Children.
Milwaukee, WI
April 14, 2015 -- -- Maria Hamilton, the mother of Dontre Hamilton, a
31-year-old unarmed black man shot fourteen times for sleeping in a public park
in Milwaukee, Wisconsin- will march with mothers from across the country at the
Million Moms March in Washington DC. On May 9th — which is Maria’s birthday,
and the one year anniversary of the day she buried her son—they will march to
the Department of Justice to present their demands for justice, in the name of
their children
For every
individual killed, there is a mother who has suffered a loss greater than any
one person should have to bear. These mothers are now calling on all concerned
community members to join this fight and take a stand against police brutality
and racial injustice. Mothers for Justice United demands that the victims’
cases be reviewed for civil rights violations; that the involved police
departments undergo patterns and practices investigations; and that those found
to be consistently in violation be subject to monitoring and necessary
restructuring.
